• Branch Programs: Luncheon Friday June 1st - 11:30 AM
As I near the end of my tenure as President, I would like to thank the board for their support and hard work in bringing to you the fine programs, lectures, master classes and recitals that have been presented in the last 3 years. I think that we have brought to the membership a variety of programs that have served to further the on-going musical education of our teachers and their students. Soon, a new board will take the reigns and continue this mission. They will need your support in volunteering for, and attending the programs that our branch puts forth. I urge you to get involved with our branch activities. Not only will you find them enriching for your own musical growth, but also participating will give you a voice in shaping the direction of our branch’s programs. Your input is vital to insure that your needs as music educators are met. The ballots have gone out, and I ask that you ratify this new board. Your chance to meet and welcome this new board will come at the luncheon on June 1st. I hope to see you there.
In the meantime, there are still a couple of events to take place. As always, I urge you to make our website a regular visit to help you keep up with all the news in our branch. I will continue to oversee the website and keep it up-to-date and informative. This is a time when many teachers have changes in their personal information. Please check your profile on our branch website and let me know of any changes that I need to make. I hope that you will be able to attend the Convention this summer. Remember, early registration ends on May 15th. Check out the state website – mtac.org for more information.
Thanks again for your continuing support of our branch and your participation in our many activities. I wish you all a restful summer so that you can come back in the fall, recharged and ready to resume your work in developing our next generation of musicians!
Our Children’s concert on March 15th was a big success! The Wind Room was full, lots of kids, fantastic performances, interactive and entertaining and simply beautiful!
Thank you, JungHae Kim, for your expertise and, please, send our regards to Josh!! I would also like to express my gratitude to the Foster City Library for making this event possible through their sponsorship.
While the year is winding down, we still have a few events ahead of us!
Our Annual Luncheon is scheduled at Van's on Friday, June 1st at 11:30 (815 Belmont Ave, Belmont, CA 94002). This year we are installing the new Board of Directors, so let’s show our appreciation to the incoming and outgoing board members by simply showing up and sharing a meal! We will recap the past year, catch up with each other, and, of course, there will be a raffle!
The cost is $30/member, $33/non-member

Master Class and Teaching Workshop with Sujeeva Hapugalle is scheduled for Sunday June 3rd from 2:00-5:00pm. Sujeeva generously offered her house for the event. We already have a few students signed up to perform Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, and potentially Haydn and Debussy. Not everyone is confirmed, so officially the application is still open - don’t wait too long! The deadline for entering students and RSVP is still May 25th, however it may fill up sooner!
Please RSVP by filling out the form below (click the link) even if you do not have students to enter!
Teachers of any instruments are welcome to come and observe, as this will be about interpreting a score. Students who are not ready to perform are welcome to come and observe as well! (Just do let me know if they are coming, so we don’t run out of room and have enough chairs set up for everyone)
And last, but not least, I would like to thank Simone Bley, our long standing member and the director of Myriad Music School and Dance Academy for sharing her wonderful teacher’s clinics with us! I encourage all of you to be on the lookout for future workshop announcements at Myriad as we continue our collaboration!
See you at the luncheon!
Marcela Toma, Gina Vandellos and Rebecca Maggi
